Steve Bannon Has No Business Being Anywhere Near The White House

Excerpt from a letter: NARAL Pro-Choice America

A racist, woman-hating xenophobe is headed to the White House. And no, I’m not talking about our new president-elect.

Donald Trump just appointed Steve Bannon as his chief strategist and senior counsel in his new administration. Bannon is the longtime head of Breitbart Media, a far right-wing “news” organization that publishes hateful, disturbing content—and what’s more, Bannon is an outspoken white supremacist, anti-Semite and misogynist.

This man—whose nomination was celebrated by neo-Nazis and the KKK1—will be the right hand of our new president, and that’s beyond unacceptable.

If Donald Trump truly wants to be the “president for all Americans,” he’ll reverse this decision. Sign the petition to call on President-elect Trump to remove Steve Bannon from his administration and stop giving white supremacy a presidential platform.

Under Steve Bannon’s reign at Breitbart, some of the headlines published included: “Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy,” “The solution to online harassment is simple: Women should log off,” and “Gay rights have made us dumber, it’s time to get back in the closet.”

Bannon is the godfather of the white nationalist alt-right movement, which places a belief in a ‘natural hierarchy’ at the center of its values—where men are better than women and where white evangelicals are better than EVERYONE else. In the 1990s, he was even accused by his then-wife of domestic abuse when he allegedly grabbed her by the throat and tried to pull her into a car.2

Trump told us to take him at his word during the election—and his actions are proving that we should.

Steve Bannon has no business being anywhere near the White House.
