“No Work, Senator? Then No Pay!”

Excerpt from: Moveon.org

Senate Republicans—including our Senator, Dean Heller—can’t have it both ways. They can’t grind a Supreme Court nomination process to a halt and still draw federal funds for their salaries and offices.

They can’t refuse to do their jobs and still take money from American taxpayers.

That’s why, with Tax Day fast approaching, we’re asking for our money back, by launching WeWantARefund.com, a satirical website that allows constituents of Republican senators to see wasted taxpayer dollars per state.

Will you help deliver a not-to-be-missed message to Senator Dean Heller and the national media? Americans are saying, “No work, senator? Then no pay!”

For weeks, MoveOn members and our allies have taken to the streets in our home states and in Washington, D.C. We’ve made thousands of calls to Congress to demand that the current Supreme Court vacancy be filled. We’ve made videos, gathered on a national strategy call with Senator Elizabeth Warren, and have even funded #DoYourJob planes to fly above the district offices of key Republican senators.

We’ve rallied to defend the Constitution because we know that the GOP’s unprecedented obstruction exacts a steep social and political price that threatens our democracy.

But here’s the thing: We’re also paying an economic price for Senate Republican inaction—through our federal taxes. Americans are wasting millions of federal dollars on Senate Republicans who—time and time again—refuse to do their jobs.

Sen. Heller can’t take the people’s money if he won’t do the people’s business.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he wouldn’t even consider President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee mere hours after the sudden death of Justice Antonin Scalia on February 13, 2016.1

Between then and Tax Day, American taxpayers will have paid $86,644,090 for every do-nothing Senate Republican like Senator Dean Heller, their staff, and their offices—that’s $1,332,986 every single day.2

Enough. It’s time to expose the glaring hypocrisy of Senate Republicans in a way that they, their staff, and the national media cannot ignore.

Will you ask obstructionist Senate Republicans for your refund?

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Share this website with family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers—so they too can ask for a refund.
